Arlin Strader has worked as a full time musician for over 30 years touring the U.S., South America, Europe and Canada. He moved to the Myrtle Beach area of South Carolina in 1993 where he has worked steadily and grown musically. Arlin has played big bands, pit bands and shows in the area as well as clubs and combo gigs. He has appeared on "Pops" Concerts with the Charleston Symphony and "Jazz Meets the Symphony" concerts with The Long Bay Symphony, featuring vocalist Lynn Roberts, as well as multiple U.S. and Canadian tours with the Tommy Dorsey Band led by Buddy Morrow.
In the last year Arlin has played jazz festivals including the Wilmington N.C. Jazz Festival, the New Bern N.C. Jazz Festival, Montford Point Jazz in Jacksonville N.C., the Jazz and Gospel Fest at Airlee Gardens in Wilmington N.C. and the South Carolina Jazz Fest with bassist Ben Tucker.
In 2004 Arlin formed his own trio in the Myrtle beach area. They work steady playing clubs and restaurants around town. The group is well into its third year of "Wednesday Night Jazz" at the Coastal Ale House in Conway S.C. and they appear Mondays in the N. Myrtle beach Area. The group also plays the Conway Jazz Festival, the Little River Shrimp and Jazz Festival, and the Pawleys Music Festival featuring pianist Tommy Gill and bassist Steve Bailey.
The Arlin Strader Trio released its first CD of jazz standards in March of 2007. Arlin's second CD features pianist Steve Anderson, Steve Riley on tenor sax and Bassist Steve Bailey. This recording also contains many familiar titles, but with a few "twists". The new record was produced and recorded by Steve Bailey at Tree House Studios in Myrtle Beach S.C. It will be out in February.
In January 2008 Arlin began his sixth year as percussionist at All Saints Church in Pawleys Island S.C. under Music Director Deb Bellamy. Arlin plays services and special music events at churches around the southeast.
Arlin has worked concerts and clinics at high schools and colleges around the southeast. He has performed with the Cape Fear Jazz Orchestra, clinics at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, the College of Charleston, as well as with the jazz program at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina.
